‘Upside Down’ is the title track of Upercent’s new release on Cult Order, a two-track EP that explores his most direct, irreverent, and dancefloor-focused side.
In the corners of Upercent’s mind, there’s always room for heavy grooves, house influences reinterpreted through a dirtier lens, and a distinctive use of vocals, as demonstrated by the opening track. With echoes of the 90s, touches of hip hop, and an energy proven on the dancefloor, Upside Down gets straight to the point.
‘Black Onyx’ connects directly with the world introduced by the first track. Saturated kicks, characterful basslines, and an intuitive approach that puts creativity ahead of rules. The vocal, surreal and evocative in nature, combines symbolic imagery and dreamlike elements, drifting somewhere between memory, symbolism and pure abstraction.
Another chapter from Upercent. Probably the most mischievous one yet.
